Townsend is home to several organizations that provide support and assistance to military veterans and their families. In addition, resources at the state and national level provide further support.

The VFW Auxiliary is one of the nation’s oldest veterans’ service organizations and its members are the relatives of those who served in a location of foreign conflict.

These benefits include pension, education, disability compensation, home loans, life insurance, vocational rehabilitation, survivor support, medical care, and burial benefits.

The DAV provides support to disabled American veterans. Townsend is supported by the DAV North Middlesex Chapter 122, available on http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063517864696.

The TEO organization provides services to those in need including emergency and monthly food distribution, a weekend food backpack program for school aged children, holiday tree lighting, a clothes closet, and assistance with back to school supplies. Visit their website at: http://teo-ma.org/
